Update on Inclement Weather and Make-Up Day Status for Stafford Schools
Stafford County Schools announced the current inclement weather make-up day status for the division at the School Board meeting on January 29th. As of Friday, January 29th, our students have missed seven days of instruction this school year. The division had six banked days and along with the subsequent use of Monday, February 1, as an instructional day, the division currently has no days left for inclement weather closures. Should there be any further time missed, the division will follow their procedures for making up days which is posted on the 2015-16 calendar on our website at www.staffordschools.net.
In accordance with the approved calendar, February 15, 2016 (President’s Day holiday) is the next day scheduled for use as a regular school day if inclement weather occurs. Should schools close between now and February 12, the holiday will become a regular school day. The School Board asked that the community be notified of the possibility of this day becoming a regular school day.
The approved calendar also calls for the early release days on March 25, May 27, and June 13 to be converted to full days should the division fall below the required instructional days or hours. The next option the make-up plan calls for is to add June 16 and 17 as school days. News Release 15-51
